Restylane® Silk is a dermal filler that is used to add volume to the lips and minimize the appearance of wrinkles around the mouth. It can be used to enhance the shape and fullness of the lips or correct age-related concerns, such as loss of volume and wrinkles. It is the first and only product to receive FDA approval for use specifically in the lips and around the mouth, although Restylane Silk is excellent for treating any facial lines.

How Restylane Silk Works
Like other Restylane products, the active ingredient in Restylane Silk is hyaluronic acid, a well-known dermal filler that has been used in cosmetic medicine since 2005. Found throughout the human, hyaluronic acid acts as a cushioning and lubricating agent for our skin, joints, eyes, and hair. Hyaluronic acid is one of the substances that gives youthful skin and lips with their plump, supple appearance. Unfortunately, we produce less hyaluronic acid as we grow older, contributing to signs of aging such as volume loss and wrinkles.
When hyaluronic acid is injected into the skin, it plumps up the area by attracting and retaining water. Restylane Silk contains a unique formulation of hyaluronic acid that is finer and smoother than other Restylane products. This formulation was specifically designed to provide a natural look and feel when used in and around the lips. Within two weeks of treatment, your lips appear fuller. Although results aren’t permanent, you should experience the remarkable results of your treatment for about 6 months. Most of our patients are so happy with the way Restylane Silks makes them look that they return for repeat treatments to maintain the results.
